Walter Murch, his art honored in San Rafael

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Walter Murch will be on hand today and Saturday at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center as part of "The Art of Walter Murch" program that began Thursday and runs through Monday. Today, he'll present and discuss Francis Ford Coppola 's "The Conversation," for which he received an Oscar nomination, and on Saturday he'll talk about Edison , Flaubert and Beethoven in his "Three Fathers of Cinema" lecture. The Friday show starts at 7 p.m. and the lecture on Saturday is at 7:30 p.m.

Also on Saturday will be a 2:30 p.m. showing of "Tetro." On Sunday, the Rafael will show "Return to Oz," directed by Murch at 2:30 p.m. and "The English Patient (6:30 p.m. show) for which Murch won Oscars for sound and editing.
