What drives like a car, works like a van and is engineered to be as tough as a truck? It's the new Transit Connect — according to Ford.
Small but tall, the Ford Transit Connect is a new style of commercial van (to Canada) that's very popular in Europe and around the world. The focus on fuel-efficiency and a keen desire for more global products has spurred Ford to finally bring this vehicle to North America.
Ford has sold more than 600,000 Ford Transit Connects in 58 countries and on four continents since its introduction in 2003. It's an extremely practical vehicle that's mainly used as an urban short-haul delivery vehicle, or as a big tool box for service industry trades people, or a mobile office or a combination of these uses.
Shorter in length, but taller, then a minivan, the Transit Connect comes as a two-seat cargo van (two trim levels) or a five-passenger wagon. Access to the cargo area is excellent, with tall rear side doors on sliders and its two back doors have stop straps that release (at the push of a button) and hinges that allow the doors to swing out 180 degrees.
