GRAND THEFT OF FIREARM
Two men were dropped off by a black Lexus at a closed drugstore at
3:26 a.m. at the corner of Donald Ross Road and Military Trail. The Lexus parked about 200 yards away, and an officer patrolling the shopping plaza saw the men and questioned them. When one of the men became nervous, one of the officers searched him and found a .32-caliber handgun in his pocket. The man, a 20-year-old Jupiter resident, said he took the gun from a man who had pulled it on him in Jupiter earlier that night. The other man, and the two people in the Lexus, didn't know about the alleged circumstances earlier that evening. A check on the gun's registration showed it had been reported to the Sheriff's Office as stolen in a burglary. The 20-year-old was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and with grand theft of a firearm. The next ride he got was to the county jail.

Officers were sent to an office building in the 11000 block of U.S. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The victim said he parked his 1999 Toyota Forerunner sport-utility vehicle when he arrived for work at 9:06 a.m. When he left at 7:30 p.m., he noticed a loud sound coming from his engine. He checked under his SUV and saw that the catalytic converter had been cut off and taken. There was no other damage to the vehicle. It was at least the fourth report of a stolen catalytic converter in recent weeks. This one will cost the owner approximately $1,200.
