NYC girls basketball rankings

St. Francis Prep took a sledgehammer to our rankings last week. The Terriers beat Bishop Ford, which already owned a win against Christ the King. Then CK went and beat nationally ranked Dillard (Fla.) and played powerhouse Long Beach Poly (Calif.) close out at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz.


Mix that stuff in with big victories by South Shore and Francis Lewis and you have a seriously mixed up rankings. Don’t expect it to stay this way.


1. St. Michael Academy (8-1) (Last week: 1)


St. Mike’s rebounded after last weekend’s rout in Hawaii at the hands of Long Beach Poly (Calif.) by beating Regis Jesuit (Colo.) and E.B. Erwin (Ala.) easily this weekend.

2. Murry Bergtraum (6-0) (2)


The first real test comes Monday for Bergtraum when it hosts Regis Jesuit (Colo.), a team St. Mike’s beat over the weekend.
